Learning activity

Exam Questions

Alone / in twos / in threes, students write an exam question to do with the topic they have just covered in class (i.e. an open question, a multiple choice question, etc.), plus answer. After creating the question, the questions will be shared with other students, so they can answer.

Optionally: For this learning activity Peerwise could be used to gather the questions. Students create their questions within Peerwise and afterwards students can rank, correct and test the questions themself and use these questions to practise for an exam. More information regarding Peerwise can be found here.

On-campus

The activity takes about 10-30 minutes to complete and could be done with more than 60 students in an on-campus setting.

This activity could be done as a blended learning activity, when students prepare the exam questions at home and bring them to class. Peerwise could be used.

Manual

Supplies Needed

  • A place to hand in the Exam questions + answers
  • Optionally: Peerwise

Set-up Classroom

Students work together in groups, so a classroom with tables grouped together could be suggested. When working individually an U-shape set-up is sufficiënt.

Step 1. (During Class)

Inform students about the assignment. When working in groups, group students together. When there are multiple topics, it is suggested to divide the topics over multiple groups.

Step 2. (During Class)

Let students think about exam questions and answers.

Step 3. (Evaluation)

Students hand in the exam questions. As a teacher you need to check the correctness of the exam questions, so no incorrect questions are provided to students. Provide this feedback to the students.

Optionally: implement peerfeedback by letting other students check the question and answer.

Step 4. (Evaluation)

The questions are provided to the students. Students are able to test their knowledge using these exam questions.
