Quescussion

Ever played Jeopardy? Then you’re ready for quescussion. It’s like a standard class discussion but with an interesting twist. Only questions are allowed as an answer. Making students think carefully stating their opinion. Students call “Statement!” if someone slips up.

On-campus

The activity takes about 30 to 60 minutes and could be done with maximum of 30 students. It could be used as a blended learning activity.

Manual

Supplies needed

  • Questions or statements.

Set-up classroom

A simple set-up, like a U-shape, should be sufficient.

Step 1. (Preparation)

Come up with a question(s) or statement(s) to discuss. A statement which provokes opinions is suggested.

Step 2. (During class)

Instruct students about the learning activity. Give them some time to think about their opinion. Then, start the discussion.

Step 3. (During class)

Keep the quescussion going till the group is finished. Students shout ‘statement’ if an answer is not formulated as a question. When correctly accused, the student in question must sit down. Play until the last student is standing.

Step 4. (Evaluation)

Give a summarization of the quescussion. Provide keynotes to take home.

Online
