Digital skills exams

This post is also available in: Nederlands (Dutch)

What are digital skills exams?

Starting in the 2025/2026 academic year, it will be possible to administer skill tests on Chromebooks in a secure environment, allowing students to demonstrate their ability to perform certain statistical calculations or programming tasks without using unauthorized aids. The first application to be made available is JASP, which can be requested by all faculties. The second application to be offered is Rstudio. Both application can be used in combination with the exam software Remindo.

Teachers at the Faculty of Science can use CoCalc and PrairieLearn for testing purposes. Both applications have been added to the secure exam environment on the UU test Chromebooks. Remindo is not used for these exams; students complete exercises and submit their answers within the CoCalc or PrairieLearn environment. Both applications are managed and supported by the Faculty of Science.

Are you a lecturer and interested in this type of testing or would you like to request that another application be made available? Please contact your faculty key user or digitaletoetsing@uu.nl .

Please note:
These exams are supported in the same way as regular exams with Remindo, except that some of the technical support is not available in the evenings (after 5 p.m.). There are always e-proctors available for support in the exam room, and the IT Service Desk can also be contacted.
