Civinc

Civinc enables students to exchange opinions anonymously and safely explore different viewpoints. As a teacher, you can post statements in the tool, for example at a seminar or lecture. Students can respond anonymously, after which the tool pairs them with a student holding an opposite opinion. Together, they engage in a conversation in a chat environment where they can discuss their arguments. The lecturer determines when the conversations end and has the option to generate and discuss the most frequently used arguments for and against. This is displayed as a top 5 list and is analysed anonymously by AI.
By ensuring student anonymity, Civinc makes it possible to discuss topics that may be somewhat more sensitive or controversial. This removes a barrier for students who find group discussions challenging, thereby enabling more students to be involved and allowing them to safely practise engaging with different perspectives.

- Civinc works best with groups larger than approximately 10 people. In smaller groups, it is too easy to trace answers back to specific individuals, thereby undermining the safety of anonymity.
- Instruct the students not to share any personal details or identifying characteristics in the chat, as this makes it easy to trace their answers.
