Brightspace Awards

The Brightspace Awards functionality allows teachers to reward students for skills or behaviour that you do not assess with a grade, but what you want to assess in some other way.
Brightspace Awards can be found via Course Admin in the yellow navigation bar, scroll down to the Assessment heading and then click on Awards.
There are two type of Awards in Brightspace: Badges and Certificates. Both are awarded based on criteria that you, as a teacher, determine for a specific situation.
- Badges are intended as digital proof of what students achieves during a course.
- Certificates also include a PDF that students can print.

There are several options when using awards, for example:
- Use the same Award for different courses.
- Allow other teachers to use the Awards you have created.
- Use release conditions to set up rules (if this, then that). This enables you to set up that Brightspace automatically grants an Award when a student has achieved a certain score or completed a certain section in a course in Brightspace.
